5 minutes with Ellie Nicholson, a Client Executive at Threefold



What first attracted you to SMG?

The first thing that initially attracted me was the role itself - I'd completed my marketing-centric degree and had always been so interested in the world of FMCG, shopper marketing and how brands capture shoppers' attention when they're instore and as a result the role really jumped out at me. On top of this, I knew that the role would really enable me to put the theory that I'd learned over the years into practice in exciting and creative ways.


What's your favourite thing about SMG so far?

My favourite thing is the team that I work with. You're always greeted with a smile, a joke to start off any meeting and there's a real sense of comradery between you and the people that you meet - even though it's just been over video calls so far!

Everyone offers a listening ear and you just feel immediately welcome and valued.


How would you describe the culture of SMG as a new starter?

The culture is motivating, welcoming and fun - and I think it's the people at SMG who themselves have created this culture that enables us the employees to not only perform at their best but also be surrounded by like-minded people who take on the challenges we're faced with and continuously develop and have tonnes of fun along the way!


Which SMG value would you say is your favourite and why?

I would have to say "Stay Foolish" because I've always loved the phrase "curiosity killed the cat" - and although that normally has negative connotations, I think having that inquisitive nature can often lead you to be bold and innovative, and really drive those ideas you may not have pursued without a little foolishness.


Describe your role in a nutshell.

I help to manage Co-op Societies' media estates across all categories.
