When did you Join SMG?
Describe your role in a nutshell?
I lead a team of 5 within the client team. The client team’s role is to work as an extension of the shopper teams, within the brands we work with. I am responsible for leading my team to successfully deliver growth across a range of key clients, and facilitating external communications for the agency. I also help my team to grow through coaching and manage and track commercial relationships and targets.
What do you enjoy most about working at SMG?
I enjoy the breadth of experience from working at SMG. I enjoy how open SMG are to new ideas and ways of working and that they encourage teamwork and progression.
What aspects of your role keep you challenged and curious?
The variety of clients and the ever-changing landscape keeps me challenged. People are finding newer ways to shop in this new world, which means the way we plan campaigns is changing and growing. This will affect different categories in different ways and it’s exciting to find new ways of communicating with consumers for our brands.
What piece of advice would you give to someone starting SMG?
Shopper marketing is a nuanced sector, so ask questions constantly and be patient with yourself.
How have things changed over the last year?
Interaction with team members. The culture at SMG is one of togetherness, and since working remotely this has been made harder, however, the company is always finding new ways to make sure we feel connected and mental health is at the forefront of employee wellbeing.
